Stephen Warbeck is composing the music for PBS’ and Channel 4’s upcoming mini-series Indian Summers. The epic drama is created and written by Paul Rutman (Vera) and stars Julie Walters, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Jemima West, Nikesh Patel, Roshan Seth, Lillete Dubey, Alexander Cobb, Craig Parkinson, Fiona Glascott, Amber Rose Revah, Aysha Kala, Olivia Grant and Edward Hogg. The 10-parter directed by Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl, Leap Year) tells the story of the decline of the British Empire and the birth of modern India, from both sides of the experience. Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) is executive producing the project with Charlie Pattinson (Shameless, Skins), Elaine Pyke (Strike Back) and Rebecca Eato. Indian Summers is set to premiere next year as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series in the U.S. and on Channel 4 in the UK.
Warbeck’a upcoming projects also include the animated feature Yellowbird. The Academy Award-winning composer who previously scored such films as Shakespeare in Love, Quills and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin has also scored the thriller The Forger starring John Travolta, which premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Saban Films for a release in 2015.
