Premiering tonight is the HBO original mini-series Olive Kitteridge directed by Lisa Cholodenko based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Price-winning novel of the same title and starring Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins, Zoe Kazan, Bill Murray, John Gallagher Jr., Jesse Plemons and Brady Corbet. Carter Burwell (Fargo, Twilight, True Grit, Mildred Pierce) who previously scored Cholodenko’s 2010 feature The Kids Are All Right has composed the series’ original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Premiering on Wednesday, October 5, on BBC America is the mini-series The Game created by Toby Whithouse and starring Tom Hughes, Brian Cox, Paul Ritter, Shaun Dooley, Jonathan Aris, Chloe Pirrie, Victoria Hamilton and Judy Parfitt. The show’s original music is composed by Daniel Pemberton (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Counselor, Cuban Fury, The Awakening). MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Tuesday, November 4. Premiering on Saturday, November 8, is the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie The Nine Lives of Christmas directed by Mark Jean and starring Brandon Routh, Kimberley Sustad, Gregory Harrison and Chelsea Hobbs. Emmy Award-nominated composer Lawrence Shragge (Haven, The Wrong Guy, Street Justice) has composed the film’s original music. The Nine Lives of Christmas follows a fireman who doesn’t believe in love or commitment. When a stray cat shows up at his door, he takes him in and slowly starts to realize that companionship might not be so bad after all. The movie will premiere on Saturday on the Hallmark Channel.
