Alex Ebert is reuniting with director J.C. Chandor to score the upcoming crime drama A Most Violent Year. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo and Albert Brooks. The movie is set in New York City during the winter of 1981 and follows the lives of an immigrant family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities amid violence, decay and corruption. Chandor (Margin Call) has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb. Ebert who is best known as the lead vocalist of the band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros has previously collaborated with Chandor on last year’s All Is Lost starting Robert Redford and went on to receive a Golden Globe for his score. A Most Violent Year is set to be released in select theaters on December 31, 2014 by A24 Films before expanding nationwide in early 2015.
