Tyler Bates revealed in a recent interview with We Are Movie Geeks that he is scoring the upcoming DirecTV original series Kingdom. The show is created by created by Byron Balasco and stars Frank Grillo, Nick Jonas, Jonathan Tucker, Joanna Going, Matt Lauria, Kiele Sanchez, Cynthia Stevenson, M.C. Gainey and Bryan Callen. The drama takes place in Venice, California and is set against the renegade subculture of mixed martial arts (MMA). Balscao is also executive producing the Endemol Studios production. Directors on the projects include Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Kiss the Girls) and Dennie Gordon (What a Girl Wants, New York Minute). The drama marks DirecTV’s third original series following Rogue and Full Circle. Kingdom is set to premiere on October 8, 2014 and will air every Wednesday night on DirecTV’s Audience Network. Bates has also scored Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy coming up, which opens this weekend. Also coming up for the composer is the action thriller John Wick starring Keanu Reeves, the horror thriller 7500 and the second season of WGN America’s Salem.
