The music production team Transcenders has been tapped to score the upcoming CBS drama Madam Secretary. The show is created by Barbara Hall (Homeland, Joan of Arcadia) and stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Katherine Herzer and Evan Roe. The series follows the newly appointed Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, circumvents protocol and battles office politics as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home. Hall is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with Morgan Freeman & Lori McCreary (Invictus), Tracy Mercer (Through the Wormhole) and David Semel (Person of Interest) who also directed the pilot episode. Transcenders’ previous scoring credits include such shows as Gossip Girl, Harry’s Law and Joey, as well as the features Our Family Wedding and College. Transcenders are also scoring the upcoming ABC comedy Black-ish. The show is created by Kenya Barris stars Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, Laurence Fishburne. The series follows an upper-middle-class black man who struggles to raise his kids with some sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions and obstacles coming from his liberal wife, old-school father, and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.
