Alex Heffes has signed on to score Stephen Frears’ upcoming currently untitled biopic about Lance Armstrong. The film stars Ben Foster, Lee Pace, Dustin Hoffman, Chris O’Dowd, Guillaume Canet and Jesse Plemons are co-starring. The movie is based on the book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong by David Walsh and chronicles the rise and fall of the pro-cyclist through the 90s and early 2000s. John Hodge (The Beach, Trainspotting) has written the screenplay. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Les Miserables, Frost/Nixon) are producing the Working Title and Studiocanal production with Tracey Seaward (Philomena) and Kate Solomon (United 93). Frears has previously collaborated with such composers as Alexandre Desplat (Philomena, The Queen), George Fenton (Dangerous Liaisons, Hero), Elmer Bernstein (The Grifters), Howard Shore (High Fidelity) and Hans Zimmer (My Beautiful Laundrette). Heffes’ best known previous film scoring credits include The Last King of Scotland, State of Play, The Rite and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The untitled Lance Armstrong biopic is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
