Rachel Portman has been tapped to score the upcoming family movie sequel Dolphin Tale 2. The film is written and directed by Charles Martin Smith and stars Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Austin Stowell. The sequel takes place a couple of years after the first movie and follows the team at Clearwater on a search to find a companion for Winter before they lose her to another aquarium. Broderick Johnson & Andrew A. Kosove (Prisoners, The Blind Side, The Book of Eli) is producing the Alcon Entertainment production with Richard Ingber. Mark Isham has composed the music for the 2011 original film. Dolphin Tale 2 is set to be released on September 19, 2014 by Warner Bros. Pictures. As previously reported, Portman also has the period drama Belle coming up. The movie will be released next month by Fox Searchlight and Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music.
