Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will continue its support for the Sundance Institute and is collaborating with the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills to present two events exploring the role of music in film. On Sunday, March 30, at 2:00pm composer Peter Golub, director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program, will host Composers Lab: LA On Stage featuring BMI composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven) who will share insight into his creative techniques including a live demonstration of his work. On Saturday, April 12, BMI is supporting Composers Lab: LA, which is a daylong workshop for composers, filmmakers, students and other industry professionals looking to engage with music in film. It will feature a discussion on career development led by BMI’s Doreen Ringer-Ross, Vice President, Film/TV Relations. Participants include Academy Award nominee Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption), Emmy Award winners Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Rome) and Trevor Morris (The Borgias, The Tudors, Immortals), Emmy nominees Anton Sanko (The Possession, Big Love, Rabbit Hole) and Blake Neely (The Mentalist, Resurrection, Arrow), as well as John Frizzell (The Following, Alien: Resurrection).
