Ludwig Goransson is composing the score for the upcoming action comedy thriller Stretch. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, James Badge Dale and Ray Liotta. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck chauffeur who is looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back. Carnahan is also producing the project with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge) for Blumhouse Pictures. Tracy Falco (Lions for Lambs) is executive producing. The director has previously collaborated with composers including Cliff Martinez (Narc), Clint Mansell (Smokin’ Aces), Alan Silvestri (The A-Team) and Marc Streitenfeld (The Grey). Stretch is expected to be released later this year.
The composer is also scoring the upcoming horror thriller The Town That Dreaded Sundown. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Glee, American Horror Story) and stars Addison Timlin, Travis Trope, Veronica Cartwright, Gary Cole, Denis O’Hare and Joshua Leonard. The movie is a remake of the 1976 film of the same title and takes place in a rural Texarkana town that was stalked by a serial killer in 1946. The maniac was never caught and comes back in present time. Ryan Murphy (Glee, Nip/Tuck) is producing the project with Jason Blum. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Carrie remake) has written the screenplay for the MGM production. The Town that Dreaded Sundown is currently in post-production. No word yet on a release date.
Goransson whose previous film scoring credits include Fruitvale Station, We’re the Millers and 30 Minutes or Less also continues to score NBC’s Community, now in its fifth season and the Fox comedy New Girl, currently in its third season. Also coming up for the composer is the music documentary No Cameras Allowed, which follows a young fan who gets to travel the world with indie band Mumford and Sons.
