The London Philharmonic Orchestra has announced that a new concert piece composed by Academy Award-winning film composer James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind) will premiere at the Royal Festival Hall in London on March 27, 2015. The composer’s “new work for four horns” will be performed by musicians David Pyatt, John Ryan, James Thatcher and Richard Watkins and will be conducted by Jaime Martín. The event will also feature performances of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet (Fantasy Overture) and Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherazade. To find out more about the concert and to pre-order tickets, visit LPO’s official website. As previously reported, Horner is also composing a double concerto for violin and cello. Since our last update, it has been announced that the concerto will world premiere in November 2014 to coincide with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s 175th anniversary.
