Premiering tonight is the HBO original series True Detective created by Nic Pizzolatto, directed by Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre) and starring Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Jay O. Sanders, Lili Simmons, Alexandra Daddario, Michael Potts, Kevin Dunn, Tory Kittles, Elizabeth Reaser and Brad Carter. T Bone Burnett (Inside Llewyn Davis, O Brother Where Are Thou?) is composing the show’s original score. True Detective follows two cops whose lives intersect during a 17-year serial killer investigation in Louisiana. The drama will air every Sunday night on HBO. Premiering tomorrow, January 13, is the Syfy original series Bitten created by Daegan Fryklin and starring Laura Vandervoort, Greg Bryk, Greyston Holt and Paul Greene. The show’s original music is composed by Todor Kobakov (The Samaritan, Monster Brawl). Bitten is based on the Women of the Otherworld novels by Kelley Armstrong and centers on the lone female werewolf in existence. The first season of the series will air every Monday night on Syfy. Also premiering tomorrow is the animated comedy Chozen created by Grant Dekernion who is also executive producing the project with Tom Brady, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green, Adam Reed, Brandon James and Matt Thompson. Dekornion is also writing the music for the show, which features the voices of Bobby Moynihan, Michael Pena, Hannibal Buress, Nick Swardson, Kathryn Hahn, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Ike Barinholz. Premiering on Saturday, January 18, is the Lifetime original movie Flowers in the Attic based on V.C. Andrews’ bestselling novel, directed by Deborah Chow and starring Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, Kiernan Shipka, Mason Dye and Dylan Bruce. The film’s original music is composed by Mario Grigorov (Precious, The Paperboy). The drama follows four young siblings who, after the tragic death of their father, are subjected to cruel emotional and physical abuse resulting from a dark, long-hidden family secret. Missing from last week’s roundup was the new Fox comedy Enlisted created by Kevin Biegel and starring Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell, Parker Young, Angelique Cabral and Keith David. The show’s original music is composed by Erica Weis & Orr Rebhun (The Crazy Ones, 1600 Penn) and Evan Brau. The comedy’s theme is composed and performed by Tad Kubler. The series centers on three brothers on a small Florida Army post and the group of misfits who surround them. Enlisted premiered on January 10 and will air every Friday on Fox.
