Ryan Amon has signed on to score the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Chappie. The composer is sharing scoring duties on the project with Chris Clark and Rich Walters who also serves as the music editor on the picture. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver The movie follows a robot named Chappie who is kidnapped by two criminals and becomes the adopted son of a very strange and dysfunctional family. Sharlto Copley will be lending his voice to the title character. Blomkamp has also co-written the screenplay with Terri Tatchell (District 9). Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Jumper) is producing the Sony Pictures and Media Rights Capital (MRC) production. Amon made his major film scoring debut this year with Blomkamp’s Elysium starring Matt Damon. Chappie is set to be released on March 27, 2015.

Awesome! I loved Amon’s score to Elysium so i am most definitely looking forward to this! here’s hoping it gets a physical release and not just a digital one
