Martin Phipps is the composer of the upcoming drama The Keeping Room. The film is directed by Daniel Barber and stars Brit Marling, Hailee Steinfeld, Sam Worthington, Amy Nuttall and Ned Dehenny. The movie is set in the Civil War and follows three Southern women who are forced to defend their home from the onslaught of a band of soldiers who have broken off from the fast approaching Union Army. Julia Hart has written the screenplay. Jordan Horowitz (The Kids Are All Right) is producing the project for Gilbert Films, alongside Matt Williams, David McFadzean (Where the Heart Is), Judd Payne & Dete Meserve (Bernie) for Wind Dancer Films. Phipps has previously collaborated with Barber on the thriller Harry Brown starring Michael Caine, which he co-scored with Ruth Barrett. The composer’s other film scoring credits include Brighton Rock. The Keeping Room is expected to premiere in 2014.
