Mark Mothersbaugh has signed on to score the upcoming comedy sequel 22 Jump Street. The film is once again directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and stars Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill & Ice Cube who reprise their roles from the 2012 original film. They are joined by new cast members Craig Roberts, Amber Stevens and Wyatt Russell. The movie follows officers Schmidt and Jenko as they go deep undercover at a local college pretending to be college students. Michael Bacall (Project X, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) and Oren Uziel have written the screenplay. Tatum and Hill are also producing the project with Neal H. Moritz (The Fast and the Furious series, I Am Legend). Mothersbaugh previously scored the original film, which went on to gross more than $200 Mio. at the worldwide box office in 2012. 22 Jump Street has recently started principal photography and will be released in theaters on June 13, 2014 by Sony Pictures.
Mothersbaugh also has the comedy Last Vegas starring Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro & Kevin Kline coming up next month. His music can also be currently be heard in theaters in the animated film sequel Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. The composer is also reuniting with Lord and Miller on the upcoming animated feature The Lego Movie.
