David Holmes and Keefus Ciancia have taken over scoring duties on Oliver Hirschbiegel’s biographical drama Diana. The movie stars Naomi Watts in the title role of Princess Diana and follows her the last two years of her life and the secret love affair she had shortly before her tragic death. Naveen Andrews is co-starring as Dr. Hasnat Khan, alongside Douglas Hodge, Geraldine James, Charles Edwards and Juliet Stevenson are co-starring. Stephen Jeffreys (The Libertine) wrote the screenplay and Robert Bernstein & Douglas Rae (Becoming Jane, The Water Horse, Nowhere Boy) are producing the project. Holmes is best known for his numerous collaborations with Steven Soderbergh, including the Ocean’s trilogy, Out of Sight and last year’s Haywire. Ciancia who is also known as Keefus Green has collaborated with T Bone Burnett on a number of projects and has most recently co-scored the first season of ABC’s Nashville. His scoring credits also include TNT’s Saving Grace. As previously reported, Rachel Portman was originally attached to score the film. Diana is set to be released in the UK on September 20, 2013. Entertainment One is planning a domestic release later this year.
