Pino Donaggio has been selected as the 12th recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the the closing-night gala of the World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 20, 2012. The composer is best known for his collaborations with director Brian De Palma, which include such films as Dressed to Kill, Carrie and Blow Out, as well as the upcoming drama Passion. Among the composer that were previously honored with the award are John Barry, Marvin Hamlisch, Giorgio Moroder and Angelo Badalamenti. In addition, the music of James Newton Howard will also be celebrated at the 12th World Soundtrack Awards gala. The composer whose credits include The Sixth Sense, Signs, King Kong, The Fugitive, Michael Clayton and The Hunger Games, as well as the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman and The Bourne Legacy was awarded as the Film Composer of the Year in 2008. Both Donaggio’s and Newton Howard’s music will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted Dirk Brosse at the film festival. (via Variety)
