Philippe Rombi is reuniting with director Francois Ozon on his upcoming thriller Dans la maison. The movie is based on Spanish playwright Juan Mayorga’s work The Boy in the Last Row and stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Fabrice Luchini, Emmanuelle Seigner and Denis Menochet. The film centers on a professor and a student who comes to threaten the relationships of those around them. The thriller is produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer for Mandarin Cinema and Claudie Ossard (Amelie, Delicatessen). Rombi has worked with the director on most of his features projects, including last year’s Potiche, Angel and Swimming Pool. Dans la maison is expected to be released in France in 2012. No domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.
In related news, it has recently been announced that The Weinstein Company is in negotations to pick up domestic rights to War of the Buttons (La guerre des boutons) for a theatrical release in 2012. Rombi has scored the film based on Louis Pergaud’s 1912 novel and directed by Christophe Barratier (The Chorus) this past year. No soundtrack release has been announced so far.
The composer has also recently scored the French comedy Hollywoo, which premiered in France earlier this month. The movie is directed by Frédéric Berthe and Pascal Serieis and stars Florence Foresti and Jamel Debbouze. Strategic Marketing Group has released a soundtrack album featuring selections of Rombi’s score, as well as couple of the film’s songs.
