Sony Music has announced a soundtrack album for Alexander Payne’s upcoming comedy drama The Descendants. The movie is scored exclusively with Hawaiian music, most of it created by masters of the genre, both modern and classical. Artists featured on the soundtrack include Gabby Pahinui, Ray Kane, Keola Beamer, Lena Machado, Sonny Chillingworth, Jeff Peterson, and Rev. Dennis Kamakahi. The album will be released on November 22, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be found after the jump. The Descendants stars George Clooney as a  land baron who tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident. Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller, Beau Bridges, Judy Greer and Matthew Lillard are co-starring. The movie premiered at the Telluride and Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews and is considered to be one of the main contenders in the top categories in this year’s award season. Is there any information available on those beautiful Hawaiian songs in the background sound of the movie, their texts, and the translation of those text into English?
