Three new movies are opening wide this holiday weekend:
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand and John Turturro already opened on Wednesday. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonsky. A score album has been released digitally and is available to download on iTunes (check out our soundtrack announcement for more information). Also opening wide this weekend is the Tom Hanks-directed comedy drama Larry Crowne starring Hanks and Julia Roberts. The movie is scored by composer James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album featuring twelve songs from the film and one track of Newton Howard’s score has been released earlier this week on Rhino Records. The third wide release of the week is the teen comedy Monte Carlo directed by Tom Bezucha and starring Leighton Meester, Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Andie MacDowell. The film’s score is composed by Michael Giacchino scoring his third movie this summer following Super 8 and Cars 2. Opening in limited release is the comedy Terri directed by Azazel Jacobs and starring John C. Reilly, Jacob Wysocki and Creed Braton. Mandy Hoffman scored the film, which marks her highest profile scoring assignment to date. No soundtrack release has been announced. The movie about a large 15-year-old boy’s struggle to adjust to his difficult life premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. For more information, visit the official movie website.
Also opening in limited release is the thriller The Perfect Host written and directed by Nick Tomnay and starring David Hyde Pierce and Clayne Crawford. The film’s music is by John Swihart.
