Ludwig Göransson is the new composer on the upcoming comedy 30 Minutes or Less. He is taking over from Nathan Barr who was originally attached to score the film as reported back in February. The project marks the first major studio feature for the Swedish composer who is best known for scoring the critically acclaimed NBC comedy show Community. 30 Minutes or Less is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and centers on a pizza delivery driver who gets kidnapped by two fledgling criminals and is being forced to rob a bank within 30 minutes. The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson and Michael Pena. Sony Pictures is releasing the film on August 12, 2011. The first trailer for the comedy recently premiered online and can be watched below. For more information on the film, visit the official movie webpage.
Göransson has been scoring Community since its first season. The show is airing every Thursday night on NBC and is currently finishing up its second season. A soundtrack for the show has been released by Madison Gate Records last year and features a couple of score cues by the composer. The composer is also scoring the comedy show Happy Endings . The project created by David Caspe stars Zachary Knighton, Elisha Cuthbert, Eliza Coupe and Damon Wayans, Jr. In the show’s pilot, an altar-bound couple break up on their wedding day, forcing their friends to choose which side to take after the split. The show is currently airing every Wednesday night on ABC. For more information, check out the official show website.
Göransson is also scoring a new comedy pilot for next TV season. The Council of Dads is based on the book by Bruce Feiler and adapted for television by writer Peter Tolan (Analyze This, Rescue Me). The pilot of the show is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, both of which have directed episodes of Community and Happy Endings. The show centers on a man who, just before he dies, enlists five of his guy friends from all aspects of his life to become a “council of dads” to his two young children. The pilot’s cast includes Diane Farr, Ken Howard, Kyle Bornheimer and Patrick Breen. If the show gets picked up, it will be airing next season on FOX.
Finally, the composer has also scored the MTV comedy movie Worst. Prom. Ever. The TV movie is directed by Dan Eckman and stars Daryl Sabara, Haley Ramm and Chloe Bridges. The film centers on a group of high school students who all have high expectations for their big night but it quickly turns into a total disaster as they are unexpectedly dumped by their dates in various humiliating ways. Worst. Prom. Ever will premiere on May 10, 2011 on MTV. For more information and to watch the trailer, visit MTV’s webpage.
