Rolfe Kent is currently scoring the upcoming family comedy Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The movie is an adaptation of the beloved 1938 children’s book and stars Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino, Madeline Carroll and Angela Lansbury. The film centers on a New York business man who suddenly inherits six penguins and must find out that taking care of the animals is no easy matter as he quickly hits major hurtles, both at home and at work. Mr. Popper’s Penguins is directed by Mark Waters who has collaborated with Kent on most of his theatrical features (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Just Like Heaven, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and The House of Yes), while his last movie The Spiderwick Chronicles featured a score by James Horner. 20th Century Fox has set a June 17, 2011 release date for the movie.
