Alexandre Desplat has been hired to score Marvel Studios’ upcoming spy thriller Black Widow. The film is directed by Cate Shortland (Lore, Somersault) and stars Scarlett Johansson in the title role, alongside Florence Pugh, David Harbour, William Hurt, Ray Winstone, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz. Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) wrote the screenplay based on a story by Jac Schaeffer (The Hustle) and Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby). Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man) is producing the project. Black Widow is set to be released on May 1, 2020 by Walt Disney Pictures.
As previously reported, Desplat also has Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio coming up.
Not who I would pick personally, but ok.
Well,Scarlett Johansson has prior history with Desplat (“The Girl With A Pearl Earring,” “Isle Of Dogs)…
No offense to Desplat. Who is an extremely talented composer. But he is the last person I would pick to score a major superhero movie
Better him than Zimmer. This is a splendid choice. Can’t wait to hear it.
Well, he’s already done a comic-based movie -“Valerian and the City Of Thouand Planets” and he’s movies about a covert redheaded operative (“Zero Dark Thirty”)…
Black Widow is not a major superhero movie. She doesn’t have superpowers. It’s just an action movie. Desplat also composed the last two harry potter movies.
Very curious to say the least. Considering his track record, I think this soundtrack is in safe hands.
