Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Boy Erased, The Gift, Enemy, Martha Marcy May Marlene) have composed a new score for the drama The Current War. The film is directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Katherine Waterston, Nicholas Hoult, Tuppence Middleton, Matthew Macfayden and Tom Holland. The movie is set in the late 1880s and centers on power titans Thomas Edison’s and George Westinghouse’s battle over the supply of electricity. Michael Mitnick (The Giver) wrote the screenplay. Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch) and Basil Iwanyk (John Wick, Sicario, The Town) are producing the project. Dustin O’Halloran & Hauschka (aka Volker Bertelmann) have composed the music for the original version of the film, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival. The movie, which has since been reedited, will open in U.S. theaters on October 4, 2019 by 101 Studios.
Bensi’s & Jurriaans’ other recent feature projects include Veronika Franz’s & Severin Fiala’s The Lodge, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released later this year by Neon and the thriller The Wolf Hour, which also premiered at Sundance this year and is currently awaiting a distribution deal. Their current TV projects include Netflix’s Ozark (which is expect to return for its third season later this year), AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead & NOS4A2 (both of which currently air every Sunday night), Starz’s American Gods (which has been renewed for a third season) and YouTube Premium’s upcoming drama On Becoming a God in Central Florida.
I saw the movie this past weekend and it is really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed the score and was hoping to find it somewhere to stream or buy but I can’t find it anywhere. Do you have any info on whether it will be released somewhere? If you can post some info if you have some, that would be great. Or shoot me an email. Thanks.
I also really enjoyed this film. It was one of the best I have seen in a long time. The score was outstanding and I too cannot seem to find it anywhere. I’d be interested in knowing when and where I would be able to access it.
