Will Bates is composing the original score for the upcoming Starz original series Sweetbitter. The show is created by Stephanie Danler based on her bestselling novel of the same title and stars Ella Purnell as a 22-year-old woman who arrives in New York City ready to pursue a new life and is quickly intoxicated by the chaotic, high-adrenaline environment behind-the-scenes of the restaurant world. Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald, Paul Sparks and Evan Jonigkeit are co-starring. Stu Zicherman (The Americans) serves as the project’s showrunner and is also executive producing the Plan B Entertainment production with Danler, Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight, The Big Short), Sarah Esberg (The OA) and Richard Shepard (The Matador, Dom Hemingway) who also directed the first episode.
