Marcelo Zarvos is composing the original score for the upcoming period drama The Chaperone. The film is directed by Michael Engler and stars Elizabeth McGovern, Haley Lu Richardson, Victoria Hill, Campbell Scott, Geza Rohrig, Blythe Danner and Miranda Otto. The movie is based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling novel and revolves around a woman whose life is changed forever when she chaperones a young and soon to be famous Louise Brooks to New York in the early 1920s. Julian Fellowes (Downtown Abbey, Gosford Park) has written the screenplay. McGovern is also producing the project with Victoria Hill & Greg Clark (First Reformed), Luca Scalisi, Rose Ganguzza (Kill Your Darlings), Kelly Carmichael and Gary Hamilton (A Few Best Men, Jungle). Zarvos has previously scored the Engler-produced Showtime series The Big C. The Chaperone marks the first film from PBS Masterpiece and will air on PBS after a theatrical run, which is expected later this year.
Zarvos (Wonder, Fences, The Good Shepherd, Remember Me, Enough Said) also continues to score Showtime’s The Affair and Ray Donovan, which will return for their sixth and fourth seasons respectively later this year. The composer’s upcoming feature projects include Nicole Holofcener’s The Land of Steady Habits starring Ben Mendelsohn & Edie Falco and Robin Bissell’s The Best of Enemies starring Taraji P. Henson & Sam Rockwell.
