The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Ouja: Origin of Evil, Life of Crime) have been hired to score the second season of the BBC America original series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. The show is developed by Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) and stars Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood, Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, Mpho Koaho, Fiona Dourif, Michael Eklund, Osric Chau and Dustin Milligan. The comedic thriller is based on Douglas Adams’ novel of the same title and follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric “holistic” detective Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd, as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery. Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia) has previously scored last year’s first season of the series. Season 2 of Dirk Gently will premiere in the U.S. on October 14, 2017 on BBC America and in other markets on Netflix later this year.
The composers’ other upcoming projects also include Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation Gerald’s Game, which will premiere on September 29 on Netflix.
