Christopher Lennertz is set to reteam with director Tim Hill on the upcoming family comedy The War with Grandpa. The film stars Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, Rob Riggle, Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin, Oakes Fegley, Jane Seymour and Faizon Love. The movie is based on the bestselling book by Robert Kimmel Smith and follows a boy who’s forced to move out of his room when his recently widowed grandfather moves in and devises outrageous pranks to make his grandfather surrender the room. Tom J. Astle & Matt Ember (Get Smart, Home) and Dave Johnson wrote the screenplay. Marvin Peart (The Perfect Holiday), Rosa Peart and Phillip Glasser (Life on the Line) are producing the Marro Films production. Lennertz has previously scored Hill’s last two features, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Hop. The War with Grandpa is set to be released on October 20, 2017 by the Weinstein Company.
Lennertz’s latest project, Baywatch, is opening nationwide this weekend. The composer’s other upcoming projects also include the comedy sequel A Bad Moms Christmas.
