Terence Blanchard has been hired to score the upcoming Fox event series Shots Fired. The show is created by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights, The Secret Life of Bees) & Reggie Rock Bythewood (Notorious, Biker Boyz) and stars Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Stephen Moyer and Aisha Hinds. The drama examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in North Carolina. The creators are also executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television, Undisputed Cinema and Imagine Television production with Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, 24, Friday Night Lights) and Francie Calfo (Empire, Those Who Kill). Prince-Bythewood is directing the first episode. Other directors of the following episodes include Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs), Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man), Kasi Lemmons (The Caveman’s Valentine) and Ami Canaan Mann (Texas Killing Fields). Blanchard has previously collaborated with Prince-Bythewood on the 2000 feature Love & Basketball. Shots Fired will premiere in early 2017 on Fox.
