Matthew Margeson has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller Rings. The film is directed by F. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) and stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. The movie is the third part in the Ring franchise and follows a young woman who becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. David Loucka (Dream House), Jacob Estes (Mean Creek) & Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, I Am Legend, I, Robot) have written the screenplay. Walter Parkes (Minority Report) and Laurie MacDonald (Men in Black, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Flight) are producing the project. Earlier this week, Paramount Pictures published an incorrect credits list, which had Benjamin Wallfisch listed as the composer and Hans Zimmer as the executive music producer. Rings will be released nationwide on October 28, 2016. Visit the official movie website for updates.
As previously reported, Margeson also has Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children coming up. The movie will be released on September 30, 2016 by 20th Century Fox.
