Singer/songwriter/composer Prince has passed away at age 57 at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Among his film music credits was the 1984 musical Purple Rain, for which he composed the score, which received the Academy Award in the Best Original Song Score category, as well as a Grammy Award. He also contributed several songs to the film, including the track When Doves Cry, which was nominated for a Golden Globe. His other work for film include the soundtrack for Tim Burton’s 1989 feature Batman, for which he wrote numerous songs and received a Grammy nomination for the title Partyman. Prince also wrote the score and songs for his 1990 directorial effort Graffiti Bridge. In 2007, he collaborated with George Miller on the animated feature Happy Feet and recorded the original song The Song of the Heart, which was honored with a Golden Globe and Grammy nomination.
