Alexandre Desplat is scoring the upcoming French documentary France (Les habitants). The film is directed by Raymond Depardon (Journal de France) and follows the filmmaker as he drives through France, from the north to the south, and stops in front of homes and places of business to meet the people of France. Claudine Nougaret is producing the project for Palmeraie et Désert. The documentary will be released in France on April 27, 2016. Check out a teaser trailer for the film after the jump.
The composer is also set to reunite with director Jérôme Salle on the adventure drama The Odyssey (L’odyssée). The film starring Lambert Wilson, Pierre Niney and Audrey Tautou tells the story of famous French naval officer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau. Nathalie Gastaldo, Philippe Godeau (Mr. Nobody), Olivier Delbosc & Marc Missonnie (Swimming Pool, The Next Three Days) are producing the project. Desplat has previously collaborated with Salle on the Largo Winch movies and Zulu. The Odyssey is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
