Mark Mothersbaugh has composed the score for the upcoming reboot of Vacation. The comedy is directed by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley and stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Charlie Day, Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins. Chevy Chase and Beverly DAngelo reprise their roles from the classic National Lampoon’s Vacation movies. The movie follows a grown-up Rusty Griswold who surprises his wife and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to Americas “favorite family fun park” Walley World. Goldstein & Daley (screenwriters of Horrible Bosses & Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) wrote the script based on characters by John Hughes. David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, The Judge, The Change-Up) and Chris Bender (We’re the Millers, Red Eye) are producing the New Line Cinema production. Vacation will be released on July 31, 2015 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
As previously reported, Mothersbaugh also has the animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 and the comedy Pitch Perfect 2 coming up. The composer also recently scored the first season of Fox’s hit comedy The Last Man on Earth, which has been renewed for a second season.
