Geoff Zanelli is attached to score the upcoming fantasy adventure sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The film will be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki). Johnny Depp is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow. No other casting or plot details have been announced yet. Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, Rush Hour 2) has been hired to write the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock, National Treasure, Beverly Hills Cop, Armageddon) returns as a producer. Zanelli has previously composed additional music for all four movies in the Pirates in the Caribbean series scored by Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt. He also contributed music for last year’s Bruckheimer-produced The Lone Ranger, including the climactic finale music. No word yet on whether Zimmer will be involved in the fifth part of the franchise. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to be released on July 7, 2017 by Walt Disney Pictures.
