Gabriel Yared is composing the score for the upcoming animated feature The Prophet. The film is written and directed by Roger Allers (The Lion King, Open Season) and features the voice talent of Liam Neeson, Salma Hayek, John Krasinski, Frank Langella, Alfred Molina and Quvenzhané Wallis. The movie is based on the iconic book of the same title by Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran that is one of the biggest sellers in history. Each chapter of the book is directed by a different award-winning director, including Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis), Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells), Nina Paley (Sita Sings The Blues) and Paul & Gaetan Brizzi (Fantasia 2000). Allers is directing the narrative story. Hayek is also producing the Doha Film Institute and Participant Media production with Clark Peterson (Monster, Rampart) and Ron Senkowski. The Prophet is expected to be completed this spring. No release date has been announced yet.
Yared’s recent projects also include Tom at the Farm and A Promise starring Alan Rickman & Rebecca Hall. The Academy Award-winning composer of such film as The English Patient and The Talented Mr. Ripley has also scored the drama In Secret, which was released in theaters last month.
