The Newton Brothers have been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller The Prince. The film is directed by Brian A Miller (House of the Rising Sun, Officer Down) and stars Bruce Willis, John Cusack, Jason Patric, Rain, Curtis “5o Cent” Jackson and Jonathan Schoech. The movie follows a man who confronts a retired Las Vegas mob enforcer forced to return to the city when his daughter goes missing. Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore (Red Dawn, Special) have written the screenplay. Randall Emmett & George Furla (Lone Survivor, 2 Guns, End of Watch) are producing the project for Emmett/Furla Films, alongside Adam Goldworm for Aperture Entertainment. The Newton Brothers have previously scored Emmett/Furla’s 2011 thriller Setup starring 50 Cent and Bruce Willis. The Prince is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year.
The composers will also be reuniting with director Mike Flanagan on the upcoming horror thriller Somnia. The film starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane centers on an orphaned child whose dreams and nightmares manifest physically as he sleeps. Flanagan has also written the screenplay with Trevor Macy (The Raven, The Cold Light of Day) is producing the Intrepid Pictures production with Jeff Howard. William D. Johnson & Sam Englebardt (Paranoia, Byzantium) of Demarest Films. The Newton Brother have previously scored Flanagan’s Ocolus, which will be released nationwide on April 11, 2014. Other upcoming projects of the composers include the thrillers Careful What You Wish For and The Road Within, both co-scored with Josh Debney. They have also scored the crime thriller Life of Crime starring Jennifer Aniston and John Hawkes, which will be released later this year by Lionsgate, and the comedy HairBrained, which opens in select theaters this weekend.
