Trent Reznor has announced on Twitter that he is reuniting with composer Atticus Ross to score David Fincher’s upcoming thriller Gone Girl. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Gillian Flynn and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon. The movie follows a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary. Flynn has also written the screenplay and Fincher is producing the project with Pacific Standard’s Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea (Warm Bodies, All Good Things). Reznor and Ross have previously written the music for Fincher’s The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and received an Academy Award for their work on the former project. Gone Girl is set to be released on October 3, 2014 by 20t Century Fox.

I guess David Shire is too much to ask.
great. now we can listen to nails scratching metal for another 2 hours
Will this take shape as a 1-disc edition, or a 5-discer upon release (!) “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” was an interesting score, but darn, it was a chore to get through. Thought Reznor was turning his back on film music for a while, but I guess that Oscar win was just too influential for future projects.
