Ramin Djawadi has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming Red Dawn remake from Brian Tyler who was originally assigned to score the movie. In the movie directed by Dan Bradley, a group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of Chinese and Russian soldiers. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Adrienne Palicki and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The MGM movie was originally scheduled to come out later this year, but according to recent reports, the movie has been put on an indefinite hold given the financial situation of the studio, but none of the reports have been confirmed.
Djawadi also recently scored the pilot for the TV show Breakout Kings. The show reunites Djawadi and executive producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora who previously worked together on Prison Break. In the show, a squad of U.S. marshals team up with ex-cons to work together on tracking down prison escapees. The pilot was directed by feature film director Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition, X-Men Origins: Wolverine). The show hasn’t been picked up by the Fox Network it was produced for, but reportedly might still get made for the cable channel A&E. No word yet on if Djawadi will score the entire series.
