Dragon’s Domain Records has announced a new soundtrack album featuring the world premiere release of two scores composed by Bruce Rowland (The Man from Snowy River, Lightning Jack, Phar Lap, Andre). The album features the composer’s score from the U.S. version of the 1996 western North Star directed by Nils Gaup and starring James Caan, Christopher Lambert and Catherine McCormack. Also included is Rowland’s music from the 1995 television movie The Great Elephant Escape directed by George T. Miller and starring Stephanie Zimbalist, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Leo Burmester and Julian Sands. The limited CD is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (May 11, 2012)
The only movie opening wide this weekend is the supernatural comedy Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp, Chloe Moretz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bella Heathcoate and Eva Green. The film marks the fourteenth collaboration between the director and composer Danny Elfman. WaterTower Music has released two soundtrack albums, including the original score by the composer. ‘The Cup’ Soundtrack Released
Rubber Records has released a soundtrack album for the Australian drama The Cup. The album includes the original score from the movie by composer Bruce Rowland (The Man from Snowy River, Lightning Jack). The soundtrack is available as a digital release on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out after the jump. The Cup is directed by Simon Wincer (Quigley Down Under, Free Willy) and stars Brendan Gleeson, Stephen Curry, Daniel MacPherson and Tom Berlinson. The movie about the running of the 2002 Melbourne Cup opened last week in Australia and is currently awaiting a domestic release.
