MovieScore Media will release a soundtrack album for the French/Italian period drama Scarlet (L’envol). The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Judy, Cold Mountain, Betty Blue). The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 11 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Quartet Records will release a CD version. Scarlet is co-written and directed by Pietro Marcello and stars Juliette Jouan, Louis Garrel, Raphaël Thiery, Noémie Lvovsky, François Négret, Ernst Umhauer and Yolande Moreau. The movie based on a 1923 novel by Russian writer Alexander Grin is set in Northern Normandy between World War I & II and follows the journey of a young woman who was raised a widowed war veteran and strives to find her own path in life. The drama premiered at last year’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and will be released in French theaters on January 11. Kino Lorber has picked up domestic distribution rights for a release in the U.S. later this year.
