Tamar-kali (Mudbound, Shirley, The Assistant, The Lie, Palmer, Come Sunday) has recently been scoring the upcoming documentary Little Richard: I Am Everything. The film is directed by Lisa Cortés (All In: The Fight For Democracy) and centers on global music superstar Richard Penniman (aka Little Richard), a key architect of rock ‘n’ roll whose unique sound, performance and bravado launched the new genre.Cortés is also producing the Bungalow Media + Entertainment production with Robert Friedman, Liz Yale Marsh and Caryn Capotosto (Won’t You Be My Neighbor?). Dee Rees (Bessie, Pariah) who previously collaborated with Tamar-kali on her last two feature directorial efforts, Mudbound & The Last Thing He Wanted, serves as an executive producer. Little Richard: I Am Everything will premiere next month at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
As previously reported, Tamar-kali also has Rachel Morrison’s directorial debut Flint Strong and John Ridley’s Shirley Chisholm biopic coming up.
