Anna Waronker (Yellowjackets, Shrill, Harriet the Spy, Santa, Inc., The Republic of Sarah) is the composer of the new Amazon Freevee original series High School. The show is created by Clea DuVall (Happiest Season, The Intervention) & Laura Kittrell based on platinum recording artists Tegan and Sara Quin’s New York Times best-selling memoir of the same title and stars Railey & Seazynn Gilliland, Cobie Smulders and Kyle Bornheimer. The YA comedy drama is told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture and centers on two twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another. DuVall, Tegan & Sara Quin are also executive producing the Plan B Entertainment production with Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight) and Carina Sposato. Waronker has also collaborated with Tegan & Sara on a cover version of The Smashing Pumpkins’ Today (recorded for the series), which is available to stream/download exclusively on Amazon Music. High School is premiering today on Amazon Freevee.
Waronker also continues to score Fox’s Call Me Kat, which just returned for its third season, and is also expected to return to co-score the second season of Showtime’s Yellowjackets.
