Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Widow, Top Gun: Maverick, Bad Boys for Life, The LEGO Batman Movie) has been tapped to score the upcoming spy thriller Argylle. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass) and stars Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa (who is reportedly also providing music for the project), Ariana DeBose and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie follows the globe-trotting adventures of the titular super-spy across the U.S., London and other exotic locations. Jason Fuchs (Pan, Ice Age: Continental Drift) wrote the screenplay. Vaugn & Fuchs are also producing the Marv Studios production with Adam Bohling & David Reid (Rocketman, Eddie the Eagle). Balfe has previously scored the Vaughn-produced feature Silent Night and is also scoring the upcoming drama Tetris produced by the director. Argylle will premiere in 2023 on Apple TV+ and is also expected to receive a theatrical release.
Balfe’s other recent and upcoming projects include Jaume Collet-Serra’s Black Adam & Ol Parker’s Ticket to Paradise (both to be released on October 21), John Francis Daley’s & Jonathan Goldstein’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 & 2. He is also returning to score new seasons of HBO’s His Dark Materials and Amazon’s The Wheel of Time.
