Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus, Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, The Third Day, Hunters, National Treasure) has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Smile. The film is written and directed by Parker Finn and stars Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, Jessie T. Usher, Kal Penn, Rob Morgan, Judy Reyes, Caitlin Stasey and Gillian Zinser. The movie is based on Finn’s short Laura Hasn’t Slept and follows a psychiatrist who begins to experience terrifying occurrences that only she can see and grows increasingly convinced that she’s being pursued by a malevolent supernatural force. Nathan Samdahl and Natalia Maymi are producing the Temple Hill and Paramount Players production. Smile will be released in theaters nationwide on September 30, 2022 by Paramount Pictures.
The composer is also expected to return to score the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus.
