Elvin Ross (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Honey: Rise Up and Dance, Madea Goes to Jail. Boo! A Madea Halloween) has composed the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Sneakerella. The film is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (Ramona & Beezus, Aquamarine) and stars Chosen Jacobs, Lexi Underwood, Devyn Nekoda, John Salley, Bryan Terrell, Kolton Stewart, Hayward Leach, Juan Chioran, Robyn Alomar and Yvonne Senat Jones. The comedy follows an aspiring sneaker designer from Queens who works as a stock boy in the shoe store that once belonged to his late mother, when he meets and falls in love with the fiercely independent daughter of a legendary basketball star and sneaker tycoon. David Light & Joseph Raso (Z-O-M-B-I-E-S,), Tamara Chestna (Moxie, After) and Mindy Stern & George Gore II wrote the teleplay. DJ Carson is producing the project and Jane Startz & Rachel Watanabe-Batton serve as executive producers. Sneakerella will premiere this year on Disney+.
Ross also continues to score the BET series Ruthless, which just launched its third season last week.
