Composer Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, Hollywood, Halston) is set to reteam with director Eli Roth on the upcoming film adaptation of the video game franchise Borderlands. The film starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Haley Bennett, Florian Munteanu and Édgar Ramírez follows a group called Vault Hunters who must travel to the distant planet of Pandora to retrieve an advance alien vault before it falls into the hands of the Atlas Corporation. Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II & III, Chernobyl) wrote the screenplay. Avi Arad (Spider-Man, X-Men, Venom) and Ari Arad (Ghost in the Shell) are producing the project for Arad Productions, alongside Erik Feig (Step Up, I Know What You Did Last Summer) for Picturestart. Barr has previously collaborated with Roth on the features The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel, Hostel: Part II, Cabin Fever and the Netflix series Hemlock Grove. Borderlands is expected to be released in theaters nationwide in 2022 by Lionsgate.
Barr’s other upcoming projects include Daniel Stamm’s The Devil’s Light, as well as new seasons of Hulu’s The Great and Amazon’s Carnival Row.
