Film Score Monthly has announced a new soundtrack edition for Joe Dante’s 1984 classic Gremlins. The 2 CD-set includes the premiere release of the complete score by Jerry Goldsmith on one disc and a recreation of the 1984 soundtrack album featuring three songs from the film and a 16-minute score suite by Goldsmith. Gremlins starring Zach Gilligan, Phoebe Cates and Hoyt Oxten was produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus.
The label also released the premiere release of two scores for CBS telefilms, both made as pilots for series that never materialized. Nighwatch features music composed by John Williams who went on to collaborate with the show’s director Robert Altman on his features Images and The Long Goodbye in the 70s. Killer by Night starring Robert Wagner and Greg Morris was scored by Quincy Jones. Both scores are available on one CD limited to 3000 copies.
