Simon Franglen (The Magnificent Seven, Peppermint, Pandora: The World of Avatar) has recently composed the original score for the upcoming Chinese fantasy romance Turandot. The film is directed by Xiaolong Zheng (Empresses in the Palace) and stars Guan Xiaotong and Dylan Sprouse. The movie is based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera of the same title and follows a princess who is cursed by a mysterious power emanating from three Mazovian bracelets that were given to her as birthday gifts and an ordinary citizen who risks his life to save her. Xiaoping Wang wrote the screenplay. Belle Avery (The Meg), Ping Cao and Yong Dun are producing the project. Turandot is expected to be released in Chinese theaters in late 2019 or early 2020.
