Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, Bumblebee, Anna Karenina) is set to compose the music for Matteo Garrone’s upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio. The film is written and directed by Garrone (Dogman, Gomorrah, Tale of Tales) and stars Roberto Begnini as Geppetto, alongside Gigi Proietti as The Cat, Rocco Papaleo as The Fox and Marcello Fonte as The Parrot, as well as Federico Ielapi, Massimo Ceccherini, Matilda De Angelis, Alida Baldari Calabria, Alessio Di Domenicantonio, Maria Pia Timo and Davide Marotta. Garrone is also producing the Archimede Films and Rai Cinema production with Jean Labadi (Indochine) for Le Pacte and Jeremy Thomas (The Last Emperor, Only Lovers Left Alive) for Recorded Picture Company and Leone Film Group. Pinocchio is set to be released this Christmas in Italy. No word yet on a domestic release.
