James Edward Barker (Lean on Pete, Heist, Precious Cargo, Mara) has been tapped to score the upcoming action thriller The Courier. The film is directed by Zackary Adler and stars Gary Oldman, Dermot Mulroney and Olga Kurylenko. The movie follows a courier whose daily deliveries are interrupted when she discovers her latest package is a bomb aimed at the witness of a crime lord’s murder and embarks on a race against time to save the target from corrupt CIA agents and Russian mercenaries. Barker also co-wrote the screenplay and is also producing the Signature Films production with Marc Goldberg, David Haring and Andrew Prendergast (An American Exorcism). The composer previously co-scored Adler’s last feature Rise of the Footsoldier 3 and also composed the music for Signature Films’ Final Score. The Courier is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2020.
Barker’s other recent projects also include William McGregor’s Gwen, which premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in the UK this summer.
