Frederik Wiedmann is scoring the upcoming Netflix animated series The Dragon Prince. The show is created by Aaron Ehasz (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and follows two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands. Ehasz is also executive producing the project with director Justin Richmond (Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception), Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Ender’s Game, Genius) and Giancarlo Volpe who previously served as a producer on the Wiedmann-scored Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The Dragon Prince is set to be released later this year on Netflix.
Wiedmann has also recently scored the horror thriller Tales from the Hood 2 written and directed by Rusty Cundieff & Darin Scott and starring Keith David, Bryan Batt, Lou Beatty Jr., Alexandria DeBerry, Bill Martin Williams, Martin Bradford and Kendrick Cross. The movie is the sequel to 1995’s Tales from the Hood (scored by Christopher Young) and is executive produced by Spike Lee and Robert Aaronson. Tales from the Hood 2 just premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival and will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and on VOD on October 2, 2018 by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
The composer also has the action adventure The Scorpion King: Book of Souls directed by Don Michael Paul and starring Zach McGowan, Pearl Thusi, Katy Saunders, Nathan Jones and Peter Mensah coming up. James Jacks, Sean Daniel, Kevin Mischer and Stephen Sommers are executive producing and Mike Elliott is producing the Universal 1440 Entertainment production. Wiedmann has previously collaborated with Paul on several projects, including the upcoming Death Race: Anarchy. The Scorpion King: Book of Souls will be released later this year.
Also coming up for Wiedmann is the documentary Snow to Sand, as well as the DC Universe Movie The Death of Superman directed by Jake Castorena & Sam Liu and featuring the voices of Jerry O’Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Rainn Wilson, Rosario Dawson, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Gorham, Matt Lanter, Shemar Moore and Jason O’Mara. The animated movie will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on July 24.
